EUDR, Interu & Integration

EUDR is one of the most daunting regulations in recent years placing demands on organisations that previously were not a concern.

Interu has been designed from the ground up to tackle the challenges of end-to-end traceability and due diligence, the accommodation of EUDR was not only a natural fit for Interu but the features of Interu directly complement the requirements of EUDR.

Your role as Operator, Trader or Supplier

Although the legal obligations as defined by EUDR change depending on your role, the requirements of traceability in order to fulfil the obligations of EUDR and/or your customers remains the same. Given the demands for end-to-end traceability are now at a transaction level, it greatly increases the burden on not only making sure end-to-end traceability is in place for each shipment but also that you can complete and demonstrate compliance for each shipment.

We have identified 3 key areas of challenges that you will need to consider and for which integration between Interu and your internal system(s) may play a critical role in fulfilling your obligations whilst maintaining operational efficiency.

3 Key Challenges involving Integration

Mapping Back To Source

The number one challenge for EUDR is Map supply chains back to source. Most organisations have visibility only of their Tier 1 suppliers but EUDR requires you to know the full end-to-end traceability all the way back to the points-of-origin.

Internal Traceability

To be able to complete the end-to-end traceability for goods that are leaving your organisation, you need to be able to link incoming goods in, with the outgoing goods. This can present a range of challenges depending on your current flow, identification of goods, and/or the segregation of goods within warehousing.

When processing occurs, such as in the manufacturing of goods, then this complexity only increases.

Submission of Due Diligence Statements (DDS)

If you are under the obligation to submit a DDS for goods that are inbound then the timing of when to submit that DDS and whether or not you to submit it on a per shipment, a batch of shipments or a predictive submission are all considerations.

You must also consider how to link either a DDS Reference Number from your own submission or a DDS number from a suppliers submission to the goods as they are received. This is of importance for your outbound shipments whether you need to submit a new DDS for the outbound shipment or you are simply passing on the previous DDS to your customer. Note that on outbound shipments you may need to provide more than one DDS Reference.
