# Referencing URIs

[URI](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniform_Resource_Identifier) stands for Uniform Resource Identifier

Within the Interu data model, various records reference other records. The way we do this is to use the URI of the record but **without the hostname prefix**. This is illustrated in the following example:
